Guides to California bail

Everything we explain on the phone at 3 a.m., written down so you can read it before you sign anything.

How much does bail cost?

When a loved one is in custody, the number on the booking record is only the starting point. Cash bail generally requires the full amount; a bail bond involves a premium calculated from that amount using the applicable surety’s filed rate. The premium is generally non-refundable once the bond is posted, even if charges are dismissed. Collateral, if required, is separate from the premium.

Review our bail bond rates and pricing before comparing options. Discounts and payment plans are subject to eligibility and approval; financing is on approved credit (OAC). Only a licensed agent can confirm your premium and written payment terms under the applicable rate schedule filed with the California Department of Insurance.
